Chapleau

Chapleau is a thoughtfully designed 12-unit apartment, exemplifying gentle infill and neighbourhood renewal. Located just steps from the vibrant shopping destinations along Beechwood Avenue, this development introduces new homes for a variety of household types, including 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom apartments, bringing energy and diversity to a previously underutilized site.

Amidst a neighbourhood rich in history and character, Chapleau respects its context through the rhythm of brick pilasters and arches that echo architectural features found throughout the area. The facade’s careful proportions and detailing ensure the building integrates seamlessly with its surroundings, while a slightly sunken front entranceway provides accessibility via a short ramp, thoughtfully accommodating all residents.

Inside, each apartment is designed to maximize space, natural light, and comfort. Open-plan layouts create an airy, expansive feel, while the variety of unit sizes accommodates households at different stages of life. Despite the modest footprint of the site, the design cleverly balances density with livability, ensuring that the building contributes positively to the street without overwhelming it.

Currently under construction, Chapleau is set to become a vibrant addition to the community, offering a new standard of thoughtful, context-sensitive urban living. It stands as a clear example of how infill can revitalize a neighbourhood while respecting its architectural heritage.
